Chuck Throckmorton, Conductor/Music Director

Originally from Florida, Chuck grew up in the Midwest earning a Bachelor of Music degree from the University of Iowa.  Chuck also holds a Master of Arts from Stephen F. Austin State University, where he held an adjunct faculty position in the School of Music.  Chuck moved with his family to Houston in 1989 to become the Assistant Band Director for the Shepherd Independent School District.  After directing bands at both the St. Thomas and Episcopal High Schools in the Houston area, Chuck became Director of Bands at Rice University.  Chuck plays French Horn with The Houston Brass, as well as other professional ensembles in the area.  He has also served as the Principal Horn of the Pasadena Philharmonic.

Guillermo Hernandez-Ching, Associate Director

 As a Music Education major at Loyola University in New Orleans, Mr. Hernández Ching was principal clarinetist of the Loyola University Symphony Orchestra for five years. Guillermo Hernández-Ching currently holds the position of Director of Orchestras at Strake Jesuit College Preparatory which he has held since 2000. In addition to ensembles, Mr. Hernández-Ching also teaches AP Music Theory and Digital Audio Production. 

Under his baton, the Strake Jesuit & St. Agnes chamber orchestra became the first private school ensemble to merit a Sweepstakes Award at University Interscholastic League Concert and Sight Reading Festival for Texas Music Educators Association Region 23 in the Houston Area in 2004.
